Spring 2006
In September of 2005 I began an indefinite sabbatical from public speaking and teaching. I had been teaching workshops for thirty-three years. In the previous six years I had written five books and been honored to give public talks at dozens of venues. These last few years have been a whirlwind of creative work and travel that has brought great blessings into my life. And now, I am called to stillness. I have a sense of being in a time inbetween, a time of personal change, a time of not-knowing what is next. I am resting and recuperating. I am at home, cooking, cleaning out closets, planning my garden and going very slowly through my days. I am waiting for the impulse to move to come from deep silence and stillness. I do not know how long I will be in this place and I do not know where it will lead, but I am grateful to have the opportunity to be here.

Spring 2005 What We Ache For book launch tour
Oriah's most recent book, What We Ache For , is about making meaning in our lives through the expression of our creativity. It's published by Harper San Francisco in April, 2005, and her book tour dates are listed below. Earlier travelling and speaking engagements are listed at the bottom of the page.
For all events listed here Oriah will be speaking about practical ways to cultivate, support and share creative work in the midst of our busy lives, while reflecting on how that work can enrich our lives and our world. Sharing poetry, stories and meditations to kindle the imagination she will invite you to participate in a light-hearted exercise of creative writing and to share your thoughts and questions about what does and does not help us do our creative work and live fully present.
